BMX rally at Splott's Pump Track
BMXYoung people from Splott, Tremorfa and Adamsdown took part in a BMX rally during October half term.

The event saw around 70 bikers skid, slide and jump their way around a series of obstacles on the “pump track” circuit in Splott Park. Staff and volunteers were on hand from many of the organisers including Splott Pool, Sport Cardiff, Cardiff Council’s Youth   Service, The STAR Centre, Communities First and South Wales Police. Splott Play Centre provided free refreshments.

The day’s activities included individual and team time trials, and everyone who took part was a winner for the day. Seeing children as young as nine take flying leaps over jumps and land, then racing up the side of a steep embankment before hammering across the finish line had the large crowd cheering throughout the afternoon.Carl Lobeck, manager of Splott Pool and host of the event, said: “I want the community to be able to enjoy a recreational sport like this in a safe environment. “The kids were showing some real control and skill out there today and we really want them to become top BMX riders. Our aim is to take them onto the national stage and perhaps even one day have competitors from Splott and Adamsdown entering onto an Olympic stage where BMX dirt cross has become an official sport.”
